Environmental Remediation Management is skilled at hydrodemolition, and is ready to assist businesses in the greater San Diego and Southern California areas. Hydrodemolition is a practical, efficient, and environmentally astute alternative to conventional demolition approaches. One of Environmental Remediation Management's recent projects that involved hydrodemoltion was for J.F. Shea Construction, Inc: A detailed description of this work below highlights the advantages of hydrodemolition and offers an indication Environmental Remediation Management's experience with this demolition approach.
JF Shea Construction, Inc. contracted Environmental Remediation Management to set-up hydroblasting operatons to address a site-specific situation. The following project details highlight Environmental Remediation Management's hydrbastinng capabilities and show how they can be effectively used to address client needs.
JF Shea Construction, Inc. encountered a 78” diameter concrete conveyance pipe that had deteriorated concrete and rusted rebar from exposure to chlorides. Environmental Remediation Management was contracted to hydroblast and remove deteriorated concrete down to sound concrete and polish rebar that had rusted. Environmental Remediation Management removed up 3” of the deteriorated concrete along with contaminates, past the rebar that provided a good bonding surface and clean rebar to a white metal finish. JF Shea was able to weld new rebar to the existing rebar and patch the pipe.
MORE ON HYDRODEMOLTION:
During hydrodemolition, high velocity water jets are used to break apart concrete for removal, or to prepare concrete surfaces for further work. There are many practical advantages to hydrodemolition:
- It eliminates the disruptions associated with vibrations from mechanical methods.
- It allows for the select removal of deteriorated material while leaving sound concrete intact.
- It leaves reinforcing elements and other embedded metals clean and undamaged, while eliminating the need for sandblasting.
- When used for surface preparation, it leaves an irregular surface area ideally used to create a strong mechanical bond utilizing a wide variety of techniques.
Environmental Remediation Management is able to readily develop hydrodemolition protocol to address each client's individual needs. The staff accesses each site carefully, selecting the personnel, methods, and hydrodemolition equipment for the surface preparation most suited to the area. Environmental Remediation Management can handle operations in difficult-to-access areas, while minimizing exposures to operators and surrounding areas. As needed, the water is reclaimed.
Environmental Remediation Management can quickly assess the appropriate hydrodemolition stratagies for a wide variety of client needs. The company is positioned to perform hydrodemolition projects in San Diego, San Diego County, and the greater Southern California area (Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura Counties). Environmental Remediation Management also serves facilities in Arizona and Nevada.
